Last year, whilst in Iceland, I had the opportunity to go and look for aurora borealis, the northern lights. I’ve seen some pretty speccie images of them over the years, so I hoped I’d be able to match them.
This image is one of several and the result of standing in -7C for a couple of hours.
It is an amazing experience seeing the sky ebb and flow in surreal random patterns. One I’ll always remember.
Speaking of Iceland, Luminar Adventures are running an Iceland Photo Tour in August this year.
From dramatic waterfalls to volcanic lakes and mountains, the Iceland excursion promises an unforgettable experience for photography enthusiasts. Organized in collaboration with the local tour operator and led by professional photographers, this tour offers unique opportunities to elevate your photography skills and take breathtaking shots you’ll want to frame on the wall. Organized in partnership with Europe’s leading tour operator Iceland Photo Workshops ehf.
If this is something that interests you (and it should if you can make it work) then go to Iceland Photo Tour book a spot in a normal way on the website and then when you’re asked who referred you, mention my name “NICK KATIN” and you’ll get a US$500 discount.
Unfortunetly I’m travelling around my own country, Australia, at that time otherwise i would love to got back to Iceland – even though I’ve bben twice!!
